Dr. Sally MacLean (B.S.W., M.Sc., Ph.D., R. Psych) is an online rehabilitation/clinical psychologist who provides in-depth counseling and treatment services for folks experiencing psychological challenges arising from an injury/illness/trauma. She empowers and supports people who are struggling to come to terms with their chronic disability, or who are struggling to move forward with their lives after a catastrophic life changing event. She maintains limited office hours as well as a virtual presence in Calgary and Edmonton, and virtually to all residents of the province of Alberta
Dr. MacLean worked on the spinal cord, neurology, amputee, orthopedic, and burns adult inpatient units at the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital in Edmonton, and additionally on the Stroke Assessment Clinic with outpatient populations. Her focus was the provision of pain management, and rehabilitative treatment services to patients suffering from catastrophic injury/illness. Medical rehabilitation is a unique and specialized area of psychological practice, focusing on achieving optimal management of acute and chronic medical conditions and disabilities.
Dr. MacLean also maintains a small practice conducting comprehensive psychological and vocational assessments, and determining eligibility for WCB, Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped (AISH) and private insurance company benefits. She determines and interprets a multiple array of standardized measures of cognitive and intellectual functioning, vocational interests and job satisfaction, pain and perceived disability, personality and psychopathology, select neuropsychological, and functional competence measures.
Dr. MacLean maintains a unique specialty in the area of complex and persistent pain management. She is also specially authorized to provide Traumatic Psychological Injury (TPI) services to first responder and military populations. Her practice consists exclusively of word-of mouth and private insurance referrals. |
